I Need Your Images! Do you fancy yourself a nature photographer or artist? Do you have a lot of digital photos from your vacation to some island or national park five years ago, just sitting there on your hard drive going to no good use and collecting virtual dust? Why not use them to help humanity to better understand the natural world in which we live? Project Linnaeus is a new site and needs lots of good images. Images can be of any living organism; from Blue Whales to algae to bacteria; or its effects on the environment. A preferred image would be clear, unaltered, and would be of a live organism in its native distribution range. Of course I have to use some discretion in terms of which images are posted on the site. It is much less likely, although not impossible, that I will use images including humans or pets, captive organisms from zoos or botanical gardens, deceased organisms, or images that could be considered offensive. I will also be unable to use an image if I am unable to determine what the subject matter is. Low-resolution images, i.e. taken with a camera phone, will probably not be accepted. Please email images as attachments and include your full name and the full name of the photographer and indicate if that person wishes their work to be used at Project Linnaeus only, or available to the public with a source citation (public domain). Also include as much possible information about the subject photographed; the location where it is being photographed from; and the date and time it was photographed. Although not required, the make and model of the camera used for the photo could also be useful information. Artistic renderings (paintings, drawings, diagrams) and sound recordings of organisms are also greatly appreciated. Thanks, James jamesjbond@projectlinnaeus.com |
